High-horsepower Subarus are notorious for being hard on clutches. A twin-plate clutch is a nice solution, but historically it was too difficult to get two spring-centered hubs in a twin-plate clutch housing to adequately reduce torsional vibrations. Twin-plate clutches could handle the power, but they were notoriously difficult to drive, loud, and/or had very short service life.
Now ACT have created a twin-plate clutch that is completely modular, and the two spring friction plates mount to one Mono-Drive hub. The ModTwin handles big power, drives easily with low pedal pressure and good feel, is tolerant of heat, and is quiet.
The ACT ModTwin clutch is completely rebuildable and all the wear surfaces are hardened. This is a COMPLETE clutch kit that includes the twin-plate clutch with integrated lightweight flywheel, throw out bearing, and installation tool.
Rated to 700 ft-lbs at the crank. (Approximately 560 ft-lbs to the wheels on our dyno.) Full assembly weighs around 28.1 pounds.
This HD kit is a STREET-focused clutch with a sprung hub for maximum longevity and minimum noise/chatter. The pedal effort is similar to stock. If you need higher torque handling or a competition-oriented option, give us a call.
