The Perrin turbo inlet hose increases airflow (and therefore horsepower) while adding a touch of color and style to your engine bay. Plus, it prevent leak problems caused by the weak factory plastic turbo inlet.
The stock plastic manifold at the turbo inlet flex constantly while the car is in motion. Eventually this flexing causes an air gap between the turbo and the plastic inlet, allowing unmetered air to enter the engine, leading to a lean mixture and a check engine light. The Perrin turbo inlet remedies this condition with a billet aluminum flange (and the factory O-ring) for a tight seal. The silicone intake is flexible to allow for normal movement without breaking or cracking.
The OEM turbo inlet is actually smaller than the inlet of the turbo itself, leading to unneccesary restriction to incoming airflow. The Perrin inlet has a built-in velocity stack that is perfectly matched to the inlet of the turbo.
The diameter of the Perrin inlet is 3″, compared to 2.6″ for the stock inlet. Larger diameter = lower restriction = more horsepower. The Perrin inlet is also perfectly smooth, compared to the stock turbo inlet’s corrugations, bumps and obstructions. Smoother = better airflow = more power.
The Perrin turbo inlet is wire reinforced so it won’t collapse, even under high vacuum conditions.
Tuning In not required, but gains of 10-15 hp on the mid range are possible with a tune
